Our Mission | Sustainable tourism in Timor-Leste
Tourism is recognised as a priority pillar for development in Timor-Leste. In order for the tourism industry to thrive, we need tourism that is educational for all, ensures the safety and wellbeing of travellers, and is sustainable for the people and planet. At Timor Unearthed this is our mission. While our tour plans are on hold in 2020, our team is committed to working hard and preparing for a future when we can explore Timor-Leste with our travellers once again. Village Homestay Experience | Timor Unearthed
We asked a few of our travellers to talk about their experience with the Timor Unearthed homestay program. Coffee picking, exploring village farmlands, living with local families, and of course football games! The Timor Unearthed homestay program aims to promote Timorese culture, provide a high quality learning experience for our travellers, and diversify and strengthen incomes for the local community through tourism.

Timor Unearthed - High School Immersion Waverley College 2018
" In July 2018, myself along with 14 other Waverley boys and two teachers travelled to Timor-Leste on the trip of a lifetime. The immersion was the most humbling experience and is something I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I'm sure I speak for all the boys when I say, we had an absolute ball, met amazing people and grew so much as individuals. I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of boys to go on this journey with and I am so grateful for the bonds we formed as a group through the experience. Thank you to Ms O'Sullivan, Mr Davis, Timor Unearthed and anyone else involved in making the trip possible. Most of all, thank you to the people of Timor, for showing me that money doesn't buy happiness and that life is about the people you spend it with and the memories you make. Obrigadu. Ate logu. I cannot wait to return to this amazing country! This is a video of the trip's highlights, hope you enjoy!" - Max Thanks to Max Curry for this great video on the Waverley College Immersion in 2018.
